Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Utley throws a hook but Gracie avoids it easily.
Utley wants to land a leg kick but Gracie is out of range.
Good exchange - Utley coming out on top.
A decent looking cross lands there for Utley.
Utley missing with a left hand there. Gracie was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Gracie shoots in for a double leg but Utley sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Utley lands a left and a right that send Gracie crashing to the mat, dazed. Utley thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Utley throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Utley's waist but Utley gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side.
Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Utley.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Gracie keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Utley's head.

Utley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Utley swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Utley wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
