Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
31 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oil Slick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Giovanni Pannucio!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slick tries to keep at a distance but Pannucio has taken the fight into the clinch.
Pannucio has Slick pressed against the cage, preventing Slick from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Pannucio gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Slick.
Pannucio breaks from the clinch.
A jab from Slick finds it's way through Pannucio's defenses.
Slick wants to land a leg kick but Pannucio is out of range.
Pannucio buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Slick, right into the meat.
Pannucio feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Giovanni Pannucio was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Slick throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Pannucio takes a swing at Slick's ribcage but misses.

Slick tries to land a front kick but Pannucio steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Pannucio shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Pannucio is just content to waste time from the top position. Slick takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Pannucio wants to control from the top but Slick keeps moving.
Pannucio looking to sit in guard and control but Slick gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Pannucio wants to control but Slick passes easily into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slick is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pannucio defends it well.
Pannucio is looking for a sweep. Slick is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Slick slows the pace down in half guard.
Slick is keen to just control but Pannucio is a slippery customer.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Slick connects with a nice short shot to Pannucio's temple.
Slick is looking to take a break and control but Pannucio is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Pannucio is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Slick pulls his head out easily.
Pannucio is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Slick scores with a couple of nice shots.
Slick content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pannucio wants to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Slick is thwarting Pannucio's attempts to control the position.
Pannucio is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Oil Slick will probably get the nod.

Slick is in close to Pannucio's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Slick seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Slick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pannucio wants to get back to full guard but Slick has mounted him!

Pannucio tries to lock up and control but Slick gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Slick connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Pannucio tries to reverse the position but Slick maintains control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pannucio can do anything to dispel that myth.
Slick scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Pannucio?

Pannucio tries to hold on but Slick pushes him away.
Pannucio is still in real trouble! Can Slick finish him?
Slick cracks Pannucio with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
