PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alexandr Tarkovsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zhenya Dogadkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexandr Tarkovsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zhenya Dogadkin!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A decent looking cross lands there for Tarkovsky.
Tarkovsky lands with a right hand.
Tarkovsky comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
A jab from Tarkovsky finds it's way through Dogadkin's defenses.
Tarkovsky scores with a crisp jab that stopped Dogadkin in his tracks.
Dogadkin blocks a jab.
Dogadkin avoids a punch combination nicely.

Dogadkin instigates a clinch.

Dogadkin breaks the clinch.
Tarkovsky lands a really nice looking cross but Dogadkin seems unphased.
A jab from Tarkovsky finds it's way through Dogadkin's defenses.

Dogadkin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Tarkovsky tries to get to full guard but Dogadkin has control of the leg.

Dogadkin closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Tarkovsky's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dogadkin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
It looks like Dogadkin might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Dogadkin wants to control from the top but Tarkovsky keeps moving.
Tarkovsky is trying to hold Dogadkin in close to prevent damage but Dogadkin has managed to pass into half guard.

Dogadkin working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dogadkin decides to stand up.
Tarkovsky throws a one two combo.

Dogadkin shoots in and bounces Tarkovsky off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dogadkin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Dogadkin wants to get up but he can't break Tarkovsky's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tarkovsky is on top in guard.
Dogadkin keeping moving, preventing Tarkovsky from controlling successfully.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dogadkin can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Zhenya Dogadkin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Tarkovsky jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Alexandr Tarkovsky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tarkovsky cracks a nice hook into Dogadkin's ribs.

Dogadkin closes the distance and clinches.
Dogadkin tries to pull guard but Tarkovsky won't allow it.

Dogadkin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Tarkovsky scores with a hook to the body. Dogadkin takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Dogadkin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tarkovsky was covering up waiting for the punch and Dogadkin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Tarkovsky not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tarkovsky feints a jab promting Dogadkin to slip. Tarkovsky then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Dogadkin slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Dogadkin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

That was a close second round but I would say that Alexandr Tarkovsky will probably get the nod.

Dogadkin has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Tarkovsky blocks a head kick by Dogadkin.
Tarkovsky bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Dogadkin's head.
Tarkovsky bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Dogadkin's head backwards.
Tarkovsky connects with a body shot.
Tarkovsky cracks Dogadkin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Dogadkin rushes Tarkovsky and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Dogadkin throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Dogadkin stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Dogadkin has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Dogadkin turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Dogadkin manages to end up in side control.
Tarkovsky is looking to reverse the position.
Tarkovsky prevents Dogadkin from improving position.
Tarkovsky wants to control but Dogadkin postures up.

Tarkovsky sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Dogadkin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Tarkovsky manages to get to full guard.
Dogadkin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tarkovsky swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tarkovsky is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dogadkin wants to control from the top but Tarkovsky keeps moving.
