Ramirez's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Megadeth-Trust. Alex Ramirez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ramirez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Cavalcante tries to kick Ramirez off but Ramirez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Ramirez is taking a breather. Cavalcante says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Ramirez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cavalcante has managed to free his arm - good work.
Ramirez is controlling the pace.
Ramirez is looking to take a break and control but Cavalcante is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Cavalcante is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ramirez scores with a couple of nice shots.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ramirez lands a nice short elbow.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ramirez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ramirez wants to control but Cavalcante is keeping him busy.
Ramirez looks to land a strike but Cavalcante avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Cavalcante keeping moving, preventing Ramirez from controlling successfully.
Ramirez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cavalcante swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ramirez lands a couple of elbows.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ramirez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cavalcante is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Ramirez rolls with it to try and escape but Cavalcante cranks on the arm and Ramirez is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
