Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Josh Ferguson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Wahl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Ferguson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Wahl !
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wahl shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wahl showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Ferguson kicks off Wahl and gets to his feet.
Ferguson throws a head kick but Wahl moves out of range.
Wahl darts in trying to clinch

and Ferguson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Wahl is trying to break the clinch but Ferguson is controlling him.
Ferguson prevents a takedown attempt there.

Ferguson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ferguson fails to land the takedown.

Ferguson clinches with his opponent.

Wahl tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ferguson is trying to break free.
Wahl fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Josh Ferguson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Wahl .

Ferguson manages to break the clinch.

Wahl bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Wahl postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Wahl tries to move to full mount but Ferguson actually manages to regain half guard.
Wahl is pressing down on Ferguson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ferguson is holding on for now.

Ferguson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wahl manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wahl controls Ferguson momentarily but Ferguson frees himself.
Ferguson trying to control but Wahl is working from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wahl can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Josh Ferguson wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Wahl misses with a kick to the body.
Wahl looks for a takedown but Ferguson sprawls well.
Wahl throws a nice looking combination but Ferguson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wahl just misses with a punch to the body.
Wahl shoots in looking for a takedown. Ferguson tries to sprawl out of it but Wahl keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ferguson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wahl dives in and grabs Ferguson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ferguson pushes down on Wahl 's head and hops out.

Ferguson moves into the clinch.
Ferguson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Ferguson pulls guard successfully.
Wahl pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ferguson is keeping the position for now.
Ferguson keeping moving, preventing Wahl from controlling successfully.
Ferguson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ferguson is pulling down on Wahl 's head. It's preventing any offense from Wahl , at least for the moment.

Ferguson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Josh Ferguson will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Wahl wants to clinch.
Wahl 's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ferguson under the eye.
Ferguson feints and then cracks Wahl 's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Wahl down.
Wahl misses with a few strikes there.
Wahl tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ferguson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Wahl throws a head kick but Ferguson moves out of range.

Wahl gets a clinch.
Wahl jumps guard but Ferguson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Wahl is looking to control Ferguson's arms but Ferguson gets an underhook and turns him. Now Wahl has his back to the cage.
Wahl goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Ferguson controlling the action here for a moment.

Ferguson tries to land a knee to the head but Wahl blocks with his arms.
Ferguson makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Wahl prevents Ferguson from breaking the clinch.
Wahl stops a takedown attempt from Ferguson.

Ferguson successfully pulls guard.
Wahl looking to pass the guard.
Wahl stopping the sweep attempt from Ferguson.
Wahl has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ferguson is proving hard to escape from.
Josh Ferguson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ferguson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wahl doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wahl manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Wahl is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Wahl throws an elbow that misses. Ferguson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wahl 's guard. Nice move by Ferguson!

Wahl has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Ferguson has passed into side control.

Wahl is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Ferguson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Wahl has escaped the position, nice work there.
Wahl can't do much from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ferguson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wahl knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Ferguson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Wahl really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ferguson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wahl is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Wahl wants to control but Ferguson postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but George Wahl will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Wahl tries to close the distance and clinch but Ferguson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Wahl wants to hold on but Ferguson pushes him away.

Ferguson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ferguson avoids the attempt from Wahl to control.
Wahl tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Ferguson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Ferguson swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Wahl is now in Ferguson's guard. A big mistake from Ferguson there, giving up the dominant position!

Wahl has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ferguson is proving hard to escape from.

Ferguson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

OK we're going to have a standup here. George Wahl hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Wahl fails with a takedown attempt.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Ferguson here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Josh Ferguson showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ferguson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
