Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Torres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Greger Mousasi!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torres keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mousasi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Torres closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mousasi circles away.
No luck for Torres with that takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mousasi.
Mousasi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Torres pinned against the cage. Torres gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Torres jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mousasi manages to avoid the submission attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Torres tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Torres has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mousasi can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mousasi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Torres wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Torres works to advance to full mount. Mousasi defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Mousasi is looking to improve his position but Torres isn't that keen on the idea.

Greger Mousasi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

and Mousasi counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Mousasi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mousasi lands in his opponent's guard.

Torres wants to sweep here but Mousasi controlling him for the moment.

Torres working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mousasi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mousasi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Torres is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mousasi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mousasi's back!
Greger Mousasi has got the better of the ground game so far.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Torres. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Torres has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Mousasi has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Carlos Torres has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mousasi tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Well Mousasi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
