PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Roach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evil Ryu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Evil Ryu was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ryu clinches up against the ropes.
Ryu lands an elbow inside that Roach shrugs off.
Ryu lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Ryu manages to break the clinch.
Roach ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ryu moves away.
Ryu avoids the body shot from Roach.
Roach throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ryu counters with a nice uppercut.
Ryu wants to clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Roach is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the ropes enables Ryu to keep the fight standing.

Ryu pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A slow jab from Roach misses its intended target.
Ryu closes the distance but Roach moves to the side

so Roach counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Ryu wants to stand up but Roach is controlling him.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Roach throws a strike but Ryu rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Roach is on top in guard.

Ryu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Roach. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Roach is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ryu is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ryu has escaped and now he's on top!

Roach wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Roach is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Roach is pulling down on Ryu's head. It's preventing any offense from Ryu, at least for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bobby Roach.
Ryu is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Roach tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ryu smiles and moves away.

Roach tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Roach has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Roach wants to control for a moment but Ryu uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Roach takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Roach circles away from the clinch attempt.
