Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Venture (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikita Sergeyev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Venture comes into the arena with Party Hard by Andrew W.K. blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Venture looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Venture seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Venture stands up from Sergeyev's guard - Venture perhaps looking for a knockout.
Sergeyev fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Venture is out of range.
Venture avoids the head kick by Sergeyev.
Sergeyev misses with a kick to the body.

Venture shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Venture showed some decent athleticism there.
Venture trying to mount his opponent but Sergeyev defends it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We're going to have a standup here because Jason Venture wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Sergeyev buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Sergeyev, right into the meat.
Venture takes a swing at Sergeyev's ribcage but misses.
Venture fails to land with a series of punches.
Sergeyev keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sergeyev throws out a leg kick but Venture moves out of range and Sergeyev only half commits.
Venture throws a head kick but Sergeyev moves out of range.
Sergeyev feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Venture's calf.
Sergeyev fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Venture tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sergeyev was well out of range. Poor timing from Venture.
Sergeyev throws a head kick that half lands.
Sergeyev dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Venture. That did some damage!

Venture pushes Sergeyev up against the cage in a clinch.

Venture pulls guard effortlessly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sergeyev wanted to stand there but Venture had control of the position.
Sergeyev is fighting to break Venture's control of his arms but Venture is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Venture tries to close the distance and clinch but Sergeyev swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Venture closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sergeyev did well to prevent Venture getting side control.
Venture passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sergeyev!
Sergeyev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Venture. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sergeyev is desperately trying to improve his position but Venture has a good base and remains in mount.
Jason Venture overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
