Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roy Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Johnny Jones!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson misses with a double jab.
Nelson dips to his left and cracks Jones with an uppercut!
Jones throws a head kick that misses.
Nelson misses with a body shot.
Jones misses with a series of wild punches.

Jones is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Nelson's half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Nelson is trying to get back to full guard.
Nelson moves into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones is working Nelson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nelson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nelson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jones manages to get himself to full guard.

Nelson wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jones pulls Nelson in to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Roy Nelson wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Jones dives in and grabs Nelson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nelson pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.

Jones gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Jones manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Nelson wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Jones is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jones throws a low kick, looking for Nelson's leg but Nelson calmly moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Nelson drops Jones with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Jones looks back up at him and smiles so Nelson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jones throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Nelson but Nelson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nelson blocks a head kick by Jones.

Jones gets a takedown into half guard.
Jones looks winded!
Nelson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jones is working away from the top position though.
Jones is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Jones is thwarting Nelson's attempts to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Nelson is not content to let Jones control the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Roy Nelson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jones is holding his hands too far apart here. Nelson throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Jones is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Roy Nelson!
