PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eaton Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Uppercut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uppercut is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by I present to you; The Amazing Human Being. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eaton Cox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lance Uppercut!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cox connects with a looping right hand.
Lance Uppercut seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Uppercut throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cox.
Uppercut shoots in looking for a takedown. Cox tries to sprawl out of it but Uppercut keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cox manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Cox fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Uppercut sprawls well initially but Cox persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Uppercut wants to improve his position but Cox is controlling well.
Cox is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Uppercut wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Cox is now in half guard.
Uppercut moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Uppercut escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cox gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cox throws an elbow that misses. Uppercut uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cox's guard. Nice move by Uppercut!

Uppercut got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cox has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Uppercut has managed to get both his arms back between Cox's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Uppercut stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cox swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Lance Uppercut.

Cox closes the distance and clinches.

Uppercut is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Cox can't fight it off and eventually Uppercut manages to take the fight to the floor. Cox looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cox might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Uppercut gets to mount! Cox was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Cox tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Cox takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cox is trying desperately to improve position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Uppercut can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cox is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Eaton Cox will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Uppercut loads up on a big right hand but Cox slips the punch.

Cox closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Cox looking to sit in guard and control but Uppercut gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Uppercut lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Uppercut missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Cox is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Cox looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Uppercut cracks Cox with a solid left hand.
Uppercut trying to control but Cox is working from the bottom.
Uppercut pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cox is keeping the position for now.

Cox escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Uppercut gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
