PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Adebisi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erwin Rommel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Adebisi might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Go Go Adebisi. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Simon Adebisi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Erwin Rommel!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rommel staying out of range there.
Rommel stuffs the takedown.
Rommel steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Adebisi.

Adebisi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rommel tries to get to full guard but Adebisi has control of the leg.
Adebisi is looking to advance position but Rommel won't allow it.

Adebisi seems to be working for a kimura but Rommel defends the submission attempt.

Adebisi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rommel is just riding it out for now. Adebisi eventually gives up the hold.

Rommel had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Adebisi is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rommel Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Adebisi's back instead.

Rommel throws a strike aimed at the side of Adebisi's head but Adebisi avoids it well.
Rommel remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rommel connects with a nice short shot to Adebisi's temple.

Well Rommel has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
