Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hammer Axe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amelie Poulain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poulain misses with an attempted mid kick.
Poulain tries to score with a low kick but Axe moves his leg out of the way.
Poulain looks to land a body kick but Axe moved away.

Poulain drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Poulain tries to move to mount but Axe blocks the move with his legs.
Poulain misses with the ground and pound.

The referee asks Poulain politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Poulain prefers to stall for the moment though.

Still in half guard, Poulain seems content to control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Axe clobbers Poulain with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Axe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Poulain is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Poulain has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hammer Axe wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Poulain throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Axe scores with a hook to the body. Poulain takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Poulain doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Poulain wants to improve his position but instead Axe has moved into half guard.
Poulain is controlling Axe's position as best he can from this difficult position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Amelie Poulain dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Axe throws a hook to the side of Poulain's head but Poulain sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Axe checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Axe tries to clinch up but Poulain circles away and keeps his distance.

You can see the frustration on Axe's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Axe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
