PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sebastien Clement (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roger Gracie told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Clement wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.
Clement missing with punches from the bottom.

Clement is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gracie pulls his head out easily.
Clement is trying to get back to full guard.

Clement is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.
Clement is pressing down on Gracie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Gracie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Clement has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between Clement's legs - danger averted.

Gracie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Clement. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Clement throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Gracie escapes and throws Clement's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gracie working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gracie in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Gracie shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Clement wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Gracie lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Gracie seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Clement has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gracie is working away from the top position though.
Gracie seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Clement does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gracie lands a nice short elbow.
Clement won't allow Gracie to pass to mount.
Gracie is trying to control. Clement wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Clement closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gracie did well to prevent Clement getting side control.

Clement looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Clement works his way into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Clement has hold of Gracie's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Gracie seems comfortable defending it but Clement has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Gracie is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Gracie is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Clement couldn't care less - he's delighted!
