PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcel Proust (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendes has chosen Expensive Spittin as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Proust misses with a jab, cross combination.

Mendes takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Proust shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Mendes eats them both and turns towards Proust to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Proust tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mendes swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Mendes takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Proust jumps guard but Mendes stands there with Proust around his waist. Proust gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mendes is pressed up against the cage. Proust has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mendes down to the mat. Mendes avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Mendes has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Proust uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Marcel Proust.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Proust, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
