Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mick Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bruce Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mick Penn!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie fails with a takedown attempt.
Gracie shoots in but no luck this time.
Gracie closes the distance and clinches up with Penn, looking for a takedown. Gracie pushes Penn against the cage but Penn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Penn thows a body shot but no joy.
Gracie shoots in and drives through. Penn sprawls well.
Mick Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Penn drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Penn defends easily.
Penn throws a big right hand that misses.

Gracie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Penn manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Penn looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Penn looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Penn!

Gracie is looking to regain half guard here but Penn keeps moving and retains side control.
Gracie parries the strikes from Penn easily there. Penn is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Gracie to escape.

Penn grinds an elbow into Gracie's temple.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gracie manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gracie connects with a nice short shot to Penn's temple.
Gracie prevents Penn from standing back up.
Gracie thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Penn's head.
Penn tries to get to full guard but Gracie has control of the leg.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Gracie is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Penn works his way to full guard. Good work.
Gracie throws an elbow that misses. Penn uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gracie's guard. Nice move by Penn!
Penn postures up in Gracie's guard and throws a big left but Gracie blocks it.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Penn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gracie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Penn loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Gracie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gracie is looking for a kimura here.
Penn wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy.
Penn might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gracie haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Penn is positioning himself well to prevent Gracie advancing to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Penn throws a hook but Gracie avoids it easily.

Penn is pushing Gracie up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Gracie wants to take the fight to the mat but Penn manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Penn goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Gracie tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Penn misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Gracie.

Gracie jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Penn walks away with a smile on his face. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Penn is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Gracie is just content to waste time from the top position. Penn takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Gracie has gone for a leg lock! Penn slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gracie's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Penn looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gracie with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mick Penn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Penn has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Mick Penn really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Revolution Fatigues logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
