Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Leer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Weed King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weed King is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Leer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Weed King!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King has managed to clinch.
King misses with a knee to the head.
King tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Leer successfully pulls guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Leer managing to control the position.
Leer looking for a sweep. Not yet Leer, not yet.
Leer controls King momentarily but King frees himself.
King preventing the sweep.

King decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Leer, up you get!
King displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Leer.
Horrible takedown by Leer or perhaps it was just good defense by King which made him look bad.

King darts in and clinches Leer up against the cage.
King misses with a short punch on the inside.
King is trying to pull guard but Leer has him pressed against the cage.

King pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
King prevents Leer from breaking the clinch.
Leer is trying to work for a single leg takedown but King pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Leer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Leer jumps guard but King turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Leer has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics King uses from the top position.

King sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Leer's guard.

King decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

King rushes Leer and presses him up against the cage.
Come on King - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Leer wants to get back to striking at distance but King won't allow it.
Leer is looking to control King's arms but King gets an underhook and turns him. Now Leer has his back to the cage.
King misses with a knee to the head.

Leer tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
King is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
King throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Leers head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

King is fighting off a takedown attempt but Leer is just too persistent for him and manages to trip King to the mat. King regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
King looking to hit a scissor sweep but Leer is one step ahead there.
Leer trying to control but King is working from the bottom.
Leer passes King's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

King slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Leer is pushing down on King's leg trying to pass to half guard. King is fighting to maintain full guard but Leer has managed to sneak the leg through.
King is trying to get back to full guard.
King wants to get back to his feet.
Leer thows a huge punch but King dodges it nicely.
Leer controlling the pace.

King makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Leer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in King's guard.
King looking for a sweep. Not yet King, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Leer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
King utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!
King wants to stand and escape but Leer is having none of it.
Leer controls from within his opponent's guard.
Leer throws a big elbow that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Leer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mike Leer will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


King wants to clinch up but Leer keeps it at a distance.

Leer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in King's guard.
Leer slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
King is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

King looking for a guillotine here but Leer defends easily.
King keeping moving, preventing Leer from controlling successfully.
Leer slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
King is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mike Leer wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Leer throws a nice head kick!

Mike Leer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Leer seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
King wants to improve his position but instead Leer has moved into half guard.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Leer here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
King gets full guard.

King has his foot on Leer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Leer works his way back into a safe position though.

King is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Leer defends well.
Leer wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.

King is working an open guard so Leer takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Leer tries to clinch there but King circles away.

and Leer counters with a big head kick but King shrugs it off.

King is looking to clinch.

Leer lands a slapping body shot.

Leer drives through and clinches with King against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Leer tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. King just stands there and leans against the cage.

A short right hand to the side of the head by King.
King misses with a punch on the inside.

Leer turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Leer manages to end up in side control.
King tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Leer wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Leer trying to control the action but King is working from the bottom.
King tries to improve position but can't.

King stops Leer from passing to mount.
King is looking for a sweep.

Leer is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, King has escaped the position, nice work there.
King is trying to get back to half guard.
Leer blocks the strikes from King.

King struggling a bit here.

Leer decides to stand up, so the ref orders King to his feet.
King wants to clinch.

Leer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. King looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
King tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mike Leer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
King is trying to work for a sweep but Leer has mounted him!
King is in all sorts of trouble here.

King is just holding on here. Leer manages to take his back.

King is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Leer gets his way!

Leer has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for King! Can he survive? No! He's out! Leer gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
