The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stenner closes the distance but Slim moves to the side

and Slim counters with a single leg into guard. Stenner didn't expect that.
Slim is stalling in the full guard.
Slim's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Stenner wants to stand up but Slim is controlling him.
Slim controls from within his opponent's guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Barbados Slim hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Stenner tries to clinch
and Slim counters with a stiff right hand.

Slim throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Stenner tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Slim is in Stenner's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slim is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Slim is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Stenner's shoulder. That is not cool.
Slim creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Slim has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Slim scores with a couple of short elbows.

Slim prevents Stenner from escaping the position.
You can see the frustration on Stenner's face as Slim controls the position.
It looks like Slim might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Barbados Slim.
Stenner misses with an uppercut. Slim saw that one coming.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Stenner enables Slim to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Stenner manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Slim is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Stenner wants to stand up but Slim is controlling him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Barbados Slim was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Stenner wants to clinch but Slim slips to the side

so Slim counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Slim controlling from the top position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stenner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Slim is controlling him.
Slim slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Barbados Slim has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Slim scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Stenner doesn't seem bothered though.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Stenner darts in trying to clinch

and Slim counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

A jab lands there for Stenner.

Well, if Slim is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Stenner takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and Slim counters with a nice body shot.
Slim lands a really nice looking cross but Stenner seems unphased.
Stenner misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Slim counters with a three punch combo that has Stenner backing up. Stenner nods at Slim to acknowledge the strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stenner moves in looking to clinch but Slim pushes him off.

and Slim counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Slim.

Slim stands and throws Stenner's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Slim just content to control the position.
Slim looks up at the clock and then as Stenner takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Slim smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Let's hope that Slim has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Slim has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Stenner taking punishment in the form of punches.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Slim has knee on belly and moves into mount.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Slim lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Slim fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Slim cracks Stenner with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Stenner is rocked!

Slim has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Stenner is forced to tap!
