The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cherry closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cherry lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Cherry postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Segal looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cherry is one step ahead there.
Cherry lands a couple of elbows.
Cherry stands up over Segal, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Segal looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cherry is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Segal throws his legs up looking for a submission but Cherry uses it to pass to side control.

Cherry creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Cherry tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Cherry lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cherry throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Segal has his hands clasped together but Cherry breaks the hold and Segal is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Cherry!
