PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sephiroth Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Resso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Resso has chosen Avenged Sevenfold-Beast and the Harlot as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sephiroth Cooper!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Adam Resso!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Resso misses with a head kick.
Resso scores with a leg kick.
Resso thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Cooper if he has to take too many more of those.
A head kick misses from Resso.
Resso tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Resso jabs Cooper to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Resso throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Resso misses with a body shot
and Cooper counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
A telegraphed right hand from Resso misses the target.

Cooper looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Cooper wants to control from the top but Resso keeps moving.
Cooper throwing strikes from guard but Resso blocks nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Resso is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cooper lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.

Resso trying to control the action but Cooper is working from the bottom.

Cooper looking for submissions off his back.

Cooper with the active half guard here but Resso passes nicely into side control.
Resso misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Cooper parries the strikes from Resso easily there. Resso is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Cooper to escape.
You can see the frustration on Cooper's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Resso wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cooper keeps working.
Resso lands a few punches from side control.
Resso working the head with strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cooper wants to control but Resso postures up.
Cooper trying his best to control but Resso has mounted him.
Cooper is squirming around, avoiding Resso's attempts to control the action.
Resso lands a big elbow.
Cooper is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Resso prevents Cooper from getting the reversal.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Resso trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Cooper sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Cooper wants to improve his position but Resso is controlling well.

Resso is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cooper is not content to let Resso control the position.
Resso blocks the strikes from Cooper.
Resso lands with a punch from half guard.

Cooper looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Cooper gets full guard.
Resso trying to control but Cooper is working from the bottom.
Resso trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Resso is looking to work some ground and pound but Cooper has wrist control.
Resso wants to control from the top but Cooper keeps moving.

Cooper escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Resso gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cooper is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Resso defends well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cooper is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Resso is aware though and is defending well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cooper has his foot on Resso's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Resso works his way back into a safe position though.
Cooper keeping moving, preventing Resso from controlling successfully.
Resso is looking to work some ground and pound but Cooper has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Resso dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Resso tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Resso. Cooper shrugs it off though.
Nice straight punches there by Resso. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Resso.
Cooper walks forward, straight into a front kick from Resso.
Resso misses with a head kick.
No joy there for Resso, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Resso defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cooper.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Resso misses the shot to the body.
Resso looks to score with a jab to the body but Cooper is just out of range.
Resso throws a front kick aimed at Cooper's knee but Cooper avoids it well.
Cooper blocks a head kick by Resso.
Cooper tries to close the distance and clinch but Resso swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Resso does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Resso tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cooper manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Resso fails in his attempt to clinch.
Resso looks to throw the jab but Cooper is out of range.
Resso misses with a jab to the body
and Cooper counters with an outside leg kick.
Resso with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Resso misses with an uppercut
letting Cooper counter with a right hand.
Resso throws a push kick but Cooper slaps the foot to one side.
Cooper walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Resso misses with a body kick.
Cooper staying out of range there.
A big left from Resso misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cooper shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Resso defends it nicely.
Cooper fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sephiroth Cooper. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Resso lands a big head kick that sends Cooper tumbling to the mat! Resso takes a step backwards and waves Cooper back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Cooper is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cooper is looking to land body kicks.
Oh Cooper is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Resso closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Cooper out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Adam Resso!
Adam Resso is the new middleweight champion!
A very excited looking Adam Resso rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
