PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Stock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Nogueira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stock comes to the cage accompanied by Can't Hold Us. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Stock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Nogueira!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Phil Schofield and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nogueira uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stock.
Stock ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Nogueira closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stock did well to prevent Nogueira getting side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Stock wants to improve his position but Nogueira is controlling well.
Stock is not content to let Nogueira control the position.
Stock is trying to stand.
Stock is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Stock moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Nogueira wants to get up but he can't break Stock's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Nogueira missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stock trying to keep a closed guard but Nogueira is proving a slippery customer.

Stock escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nogueira gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Stock is looking for a triangle but Nogueira pushes his legs off easily.
Nogueira wants to get up but he can't break Stock's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nogueira passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Stock is looking to reverse the position.
Nogueira wants to stand but Stock has his arm trapped.
Nogueira is looking to take a break and control but Stock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nogueira working away.
Stock tries to improve position but can't.

Nogueira tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Nogueira is looking to take a break and control but Stock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Stock tries to bench press Nogueira off him but Nogueira keeps the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nogueira wants to stand but Stock is controlling his arm.
You can see the frustration on Stock's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Stock is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Nogueira is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Stock is looking to regain half guard here but Nogueira keeps moving and retains side control.

Nogueira has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Stock tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nogueira was well out of range. Poor timing from Stock.

Nogueira drives through with a takedown into guard.
Stock trying to keep a closed guard but Nogueira is proving a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nogueira throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Nogueira gets to his feet - Stock follows without any prompting.
Stock misses with a shot to the body

and Nogueira holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nogueira escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Nogueira shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nogueira showed some decent athleticism there.
Nogueira wants to stand but Stock has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nogueira decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Nogueira drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson Nogueira dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Nogueira clinches up with Stock and pushes him back against the cage.

Nogueira tightens his grip and picks Stock up, before dumping him to the ground. Stock manages to land in guard.

Stock looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Nogueira is defending well. Stock quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Nogueira has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Stock celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jon Stock!
In his post fight interview, Jon Stock started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
