PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joey Kingfisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Josh Miller looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Kingfisher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Miller!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kingfisher moves into range and clinches up with Miller.
Miller looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Miller jumps guard and drags Kingfisher to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Kingfisher stands and throws Miller's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Kingfisher lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Kingfisher tries to stand but Miller is controlling his head.
Kingfisher trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kingfisher looks up at the clock and then as Miller takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kingfisher smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Kingfisher decides to stand up, so the ref orders Miller to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kingfisher instigates a clinch.

Kingfisher breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kingfisher feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Miller is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Miller is trying to drag Kingfisher to the mat but Kingfisher just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kingfisher changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Miller fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Kingfisher has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kingfisher tries a body shot but Miller blocks it.
Miller is trying to pull guard but Kingfisher turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Miller drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Joey Kingfisher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Miller.

Kingfisher breaks from the clinch.

Kingfisher has closed the distance and engaged Miller in a clinch.
Miller is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kingfisher is defending well for now.

A bit of stalling here from Kingfisher.

Miller is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kingfisher pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Kingfisher wants to take the fight to the mat but Miller manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kingfisher decides to stand back up. Kingfisher steps back and let's Miller get back to his feet.

Kingfisher wants to free his trapped foot but Miller is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Miller manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Kingfisher changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Miller looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Kingfisher has hold of one of Miller's legs. Miller is fighting the takedown attempt but Kingfisher gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Kingfisher knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Miller on the ground.

Kingfisher tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Kingfisher tries to pull guard but Miller holds him up against the cage and eventually Kingfisher drops back down to his feet.
