Smirnov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dangerfield sprawls well initially but Smirnov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Dangerfield had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Smirnov is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Dangerfield Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Smirnov's back instead.

Smirnov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dangerfield's guard.

and Smirnov counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Dangerfield thinking.

Smirnov drops down looking for an ankle pick but Dangerfield pulls his leg out and moves away.
Dangerfield swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Smirnov counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Dangerfield will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Rodney Dangerfield seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
