The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bestman misses with the combination.

Bestman darts in and clinches Mann up against the cage.

Mann has picked Bestman up - he's going for a ride! Mann dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Mann will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bestman regains full guard. Nicely done.
Bestman is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hugh Bestman was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Bestman tries to close the distance and clinch but Mann swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Mann throws a strike but Bestman rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Bestman drops back looking for a leg! Mann is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mann manages to kick Bestman off! Bestman jumps back into Mann's guard.
Bestman is standing up over Mann. Mann looks to escape but Bestman dives into side control.
Bestman tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Mann pushes Bestman away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bestman gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Mann knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bestman on the ground.
Mann is not content to let Bestman control the position.

Bestman tries to move to mount but Mann blocks the move with his legs.
Mann is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Bestman is controlling him well.

Bestman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Bestman looks for a takedown but Mann sprawls well.

and Mann counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bestman won't be happy with that.

Bestman jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mann manages to avoid the submission attempt.
