PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Gonzalez's choice of entrance music: Iron Maiden - Dance Of Death. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gonzalez drives through and clinches with Edgar against the cage.
Edgar misses with a punch to the body.

Gonzalez turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gonzalez manages to end up in side control.

Edgar tries to bench press Gonzalez off him but Gonzalez keeps the position.
Gonzalez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gonzalez wants to control but Edgar is keeping him busy.
Gonzalez misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Edgar in particular looking to stall.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Edgar sprawls well. Edgar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gonzalez gets slowly back to his feet.

Edgar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Gonzalez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Gonzalez is nestled in close to Edgar, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Gonzalez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Edgar to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Edgar shrugs it off.

Gonzalez jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Edgar is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Edgar and Gonzalez has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A close second round but Lucas Gonzalez will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Gonzalez seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Jake Edgar has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Edgar shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gonzalez pinned against the cage. Gonzalez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Edgar. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Edgar could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Edgar has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
