Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tim Monsoon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephane Chen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tim Monsoon!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Stephane Chen!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monsoon misses with an uppercut.
Monsoon thumps Chen with a low kick.
Chen throws a series of punches but Monsoon avoids them all with ease.
Nice shot by Monsoon.


It looks like Stephane Chen has been cut.
Monsoon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Chen.
Chen has a takedown stuffed.
Monsoon moves into range and connects with a jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Monsoon tries for a takedown but Chen circles away easily
and Monsoon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Monsoon lands an overhand right.
A left lands for Monsoon.
Monsoon uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Chen has time to react.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Monsoon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Tim Monsoon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stephane Chen.
Monsoon scores with a leg kick.
Chen moves forwards but Monsoon connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Chen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Monsoon as he avoids it easily.

Monsoon waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Chen. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Chen to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Chen can't keep his opponent in guard - Monsoon advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Monsoon moves into full mount! Chen won't be happy about that!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chen can do anything to dispel that myth.
Monsoon thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Chen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monsoon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Chen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Monsoon looking to land elbow strikes but Chen uses the position to regain half guard.
Monsoon working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Chen's thigh. Chen counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Monsoon throws a big right hand that misses.
Monsoon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Monsoon tries to free his leg and advance position but Chen is retaining full guard.
Monsoon throws a big elbow that misses.
Monsoon throws an elbow that misses. Chen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Monsoon's guard. Nice move by Chen!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Monsoon pulls Chen in to control the position.
Chen throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Chen looking to sit in guard and control but Monsoon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Monsoon trying to control the position from guard on top but Chen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Chen looking for a sweep. Not yet Chen, not yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chen can't keep his opponent in guard - Monsoon advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Monsoon lands with a punch from half guard.
Chen is trying to stand up here but Monsoon is controlling him well.
Monsoon trying to control the action but Chen is working from the bottom.
Monsoon not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Monsoon.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Monsoon dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Stephane Chen's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Monsoon lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Monsoon dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Chen walks into a left hand.
Chen closes the distance and clinches up with Monsoon, looking for a takedown. Chen pushes Monsoon against the cage but Monsoon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Chen scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Chen is trying to move to mount but Monsoon reverses beautifully and ends up in Chen's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Monsoon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chen is keeping the position for now.

Monsoon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Monsoon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Monsoon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Monsoon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Chen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Monsoon.
Monsoon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Monsoon connects with a crisp jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Monsoon throws a low kick but it's checked well by Chen.
Chen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Monsoon tries to avoid it but Chen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Monsoon to the ground. Monsoon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stephane Chen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Monsoon bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Chen's head.


That has opened up Stephane Chen's cut even more.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
No joy there for Monsoon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Monsoon jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Monsoon lands with a nice body punch.
Monsoon scores with a jab to the jaw.
Chen is still on wobbly legs! Can Monsoon finish him?
Chen shoots in and drives through. Monsoon sprawls well.
Tim Monsoon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stephane Chen.
Chen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Monsoon avoids it really well and circles away.
Chen seems to have recovered his senses.
Monsoon cracks Chen with a good jab.


The cut above Stephane Chen's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Monsoon cracks Chen on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Chen falls backwards against the cage. Monsoon follows up with more strikes that drop Chen to his knees. Monsoon keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Chen! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tim Monsoon!
Tim Monsoon is the new heavyweight champion!
Tim Monsoon decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
