PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ultimate Damage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Damage comes into the arena with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ysdbj-WzvI blaring out of the sound system. Cain has chosen A Warrior's Call as his entrance music. Ultimate Damage had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Ultimate Damage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Cain!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Damage shoots in and gets a takedown into Cain's guard.
Damage postures up.
Damage won't allow Cain to sweep him here.
Cain has his hands on Damage's head, controlling the position.
Cain wants to control the position but Damage says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Cain is trying to control but can't.
Damage with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Cain wants to get back to full guard.
Cain is looking to control Damage's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cain avoid being mounted?

Cain actively working from the bottom here.
Cain wants to improve his position but Damage is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cain is still trying to improve position.
Damage trying to control the action but Cain is working from the bottom.
Cain wants to control but Damage is keeping busy and won't allow it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Damage tries a head kick but it misses.

Cain gets caught flat footed, as Damage shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Cain looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Damage puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Cain regains full guard. Nicely done.
Cain tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Damage stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cain swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Damage lands a couple of elbows.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cain is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cain trying to pass the guard but Damage defending well.
Cain not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Cain is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Damage sees it coming and defends easily.

Cain looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Damage is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cain pulls his head out easily.
Cain tries to pass the half guard into mount. Damage knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Damage is looking for a sweep. Cain is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Damage keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Damage tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Cain is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Cain trying to advance position but Damage counters by regaining guard.
Cain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cain controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Cain wants to control from the top but Damage keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cain distracts Damage with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Cain dominated that round.
That's time! Damage's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Damage leaves Cain with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Damage takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Damage lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Cain at a distance.
Cain misses with an uppercut. Damage saw that one coming.
Damage shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cain as he jumps to the side.
Damage is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

so Damage counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Damage with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Cain wants to sweep here but Damage controlling him for the moment.
Damage trying to control the position from guard on top but Cain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Cain working for a triangle but Damage defends it easily.

Cain working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Damage doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Damage manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Cain has his foot on Damage's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Damage works his way back into a safe position though.

Damage got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cain has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Damage has managed to get both his arms back between Cain's legs - danger averted.

Cain is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Damage off and has taken his back!

Cain has got his arm under Damage's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Damage has spun round into Cain's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
Damage stays in close to Cain's body and controls the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Damage wants to control from the top but Cain keeps moving.

Mike Cain has got the better of the ground game so far.
Damage is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

We're going to have a standup here because Ultimate Damage wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Damage looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cain swings widly with a right hand
and Damage counters with a left to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cain misses with a takedown attempt

and Damage counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Damage.
Damage scores with a nice hook to the head.
Damage avoiding damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ultimate Damage dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Damage throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Damage lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Cain's corner calls for a 1-2. Cain obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Mike Cain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cain cracks a nice hook into Damage's ribs.

Cain lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cain.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Damage gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Damage is looking for a kimura but Cain is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Damage to get the leverage.

Damage is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cain is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Damage is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Cain has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Damage can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Damage moves into full mount! Cain won't be happy about that!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ultimate Damage.
I think Damage has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
