Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Oswaldo Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marshall Mathers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez comes to the cage accompanied by In The Ghetto - By Elvis Presley. Mathers is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Square Dance. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 22 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Marshall Mathers!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Mathers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mathers takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Sanchez turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sanchez manages to end up in side control.

The ground and pound from Sanchez seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Sanchez tries to score with some ground and pound. Mathers controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Sanchez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Mathers fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sanchez.

Mathers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Mathers gets caught flat footed, as Sanchez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sanchez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mathers is pulling down on Sanchez's head. It's preventing any offense from Sanchez, at least for the moment.
Sanchez distracts Mathers with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Sanchez connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Sanchez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mathers is fending him off so far but Sanchez persists. Nope, Mathers circles away and we're back to standing.
Mathers connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sanchez momentarily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mathers takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Oswaldo Sanchez will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Sanchez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Mathers throws a big shot that misses.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Sanchez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mathers is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Sanchez advances position into side control!

Mathers can't do much from the bottom here.

Sanchez remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sanchez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
