Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pete Mercury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hollis Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melendez has chosen Brooklyn Zoo as his entrance music. Pete Mercury has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pete Mercury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hollis Melendez!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melendez doesn't manage to clinch there - Mercury circles away.
Mercury looks to throw the jab but Melendez is out of range.
Melendez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

It looks like Hollis Melendez has been cut.
Mercury with a nice cross.
Melendez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mercury defends it nicely.
Melendez tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Mercury manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Melendez checks a low kick from Mercury.
Melendez walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mercury throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Melendez on the side of the head.
Melendez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mercury's waist but Mercury gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Melendez off to one side.
Melendez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Melendez there as he acknowledges the shot.
Mercury scores with a nice head shot.
Melendez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pete Mercury has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hollis Melendez.

Mercury rushes Melendez and presses him up against the ropes.
Mercury effectively controlling the action here.
Melendez's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Mercury lands a left hand.
Mercury wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Mercury can't break the clinch.
Melendez pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes.
Mercury scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Melendez is rocked!
Mercury stalling.
Melendez is still on wobbly legs! Can Mercury finish him?
Mercury lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Melendez to his knees! Mercury keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
