Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ian Macdonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Carter is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ian Macdonald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Carter!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Franklyn Lucas and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter tries to clinch there but Macdonald circles away.
Macdonald shoots in but Carter avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Carter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Carter striking off his back but it's not causing Macdonald any problems.
Macdonald trying to control the position from guard on top but Carter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carter is on top in guard.
Macdonald keeping moving, preventing Carter from controlling successfully.
Macdonald is trying to control the position but Carter postures up.

Macdonald is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Carter wants to control from the top but Macdonald keeps moving.
Macdonald pulls Carter in close to prevent any damage.

Ian Macdonald has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Carter tries to close the distance and clinch but Macdonald swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Macdonald decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Carter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Macdonald is working away from the top position though.

Macdonald wants to stand up but Carter is controlling the position.
Macdonald seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Carter is looking to control Macdonald's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Carter avoid being mounted?
Carter might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Macdonald haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Macdonald is trying to control the action in half guard but Carter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ian Macdonald wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Carter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Macdonald as he avoids it easily.

Macdonald closes the distance and clinches.

Carter fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Carter shoots in but no luck this time.

Macdonald gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Carter has momentary wrist control but Macdonald slips an elbow through the middle.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Carter looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ian Macdonald dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Macdonald looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carter is fending him off so far but Macdonald persists. Nope, Carter circles away and we're back to standing.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Macdonald. Carter shrugs it off though.

Macdonald closes the distance and clinches.
Macdonald is pushing Carter up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Macdonald pulls guard successfully.
Carter controlling from the top position.
Let's hope that Carter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Carter gets to his feet - Macdonald follows without any prompting.

Macdonald shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Carter throws a sloppy head kick and Macdonald moves out of range easily.

Macdonald darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Macdonald has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Carter is wriggling around trying to escape.

Macdonald scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Carter?
Macdonald can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carter is looking to escape.

Macdonald fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Macdonald stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Macdonald fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Carter to the ground. Macdonald is now in Carter's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Carter gets tackled into the cage by Macdonald. Macdonald maintains the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Macdonald turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Carter can't do much from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Macdonald's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Macdonald swats away the attempt to clinch by Carter.
Ian Macdonald is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Crunch! Macdonald slams his shin into Carter's torso.
Macdonald throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Carter.
Carter connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Carter tries to clinch up but Macdonald circles away and keeps his distance.

Both fighters circling a little - Macdonald finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Macdonald looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Carter has picked Macdonald up and slammed him! Macdonald can't keep hold of the triangle and Carter manages to pass to side control!

Carter tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Carter has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Macdonald is looking to regain half guard here but Carter keeps moving and retains side control.
Carter is looking to take a break and control but Macdonald is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Macdonald throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

Carter is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Macdonald knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ian Macdonald.
Well Macdonald has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
