Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hector Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Art Vandelay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vandelay has chosen Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hector Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Art Vandelay!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves ducks right into an uppercut from Vandelay.
Alves swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vandelay tests Alves's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Alves has a takedown stuffed.
Alves tries for a takedown but Vandelay sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Vandelay tries a head kick but it misses.
Alves fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vandelay avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hector Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vandelay slaps away a takedown attempt from Alves, before circling back to the center of the mat.

and Vandelay counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Alves drives through with a takedown into Vandelay's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Vandelay preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vandelay swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Alves postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Alves tries to free his leg and advance position but Vandelay is retaining full guard.
Vandelay has control of Alves's left arm, preventing Alves from doing any damage.

Alves drops back, looking for a kneebar! Vandelay looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Vandelay looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Vandelay!
Vandelay misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Alves is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Vandelay off and has taken his back!
