Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Assis Civita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Masters is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Assis Civita!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Masters!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masters takes a jab right on the kisser.
Civita works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Masters tries to clinch there but Civita circles away.
Crunch! Masters slams his shin into Civita's torso.
Nice takedown defense from Masters. No joy for Civita on that attempt.
Civita cracks Masters with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Civita showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Masters.
Nice body punch from Civita.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Masters works over Civita's head and body with a nice combination.
Masters moves forwards but Civita connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Masters tries to close the distance and clinch up but Civita swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A lazy left from Civita finds it's target.

Masters doesn't manage to clinch there - Civita circles away.
Civita looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Masters is fending him off so far but Civita persists. Nope, Masters circles away and we're back to standing.
A jab-cross combination lands for Civita and sends Masters crashing to the mat! Civita follows him down to the mat - Masters regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Civita passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Masters!
Masters is still in real trouble! Can Civita finish him?

Civita working for a submission but Masters is keeping him at bay.
Civita blocks Masters's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Masters seems to have recovered his senses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Civita is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Masters has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Masters is looking to improve his position but Civita isn't that keen on the idea.
Civita fails to advance to Masters's back.
Civita misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Civita throws some wild stikes that Masters manages to avoid easily.
Masters prevents Civita from taking his back.
Masters really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Civita. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Civita throws some wild stikes that Masters manages to avoid easily.
Civita thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Civita looking to secure an arm triangle but Masters defends it well.
Masters tries to lock up and control but Civita gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Civita is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Masters is surviving well by controlling Civita's body position as best he can.
Civita pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Civita jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Masters manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Civita is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Masters tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Civita is looking to take a break and control but Masters is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The strikes coming from Civita are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Civita tries for a kimura but Masters is defending well.
Masters is trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Masters pushes Civita away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Civita gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Masters seems a little lost for a moment, as Civita dominates the positioning.
Civita has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Civita tries to advance to mount but can't.

Civita stands up.
Masters cracks Civita with a good jab.
Civita slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A jab from Civita does it's job there.
Masters should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Civita dips to his left and cracks Masters with an uppercut!
Civita looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Assis Civita dominated that round.
That's time! Civita's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Masters crunches a lovely knee into Civita's ribcage.

Civita tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Masters just stands there and leans against the cage.
Civita tries to break the clinch but Masters is controlling the position.
Masters keeps control of Civita as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Masters throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Civita blocks it with crossed arms.
Masters misses with a knee to the head.
Masters looking to throw knees to the head but Civita is blocking nicely.

Civita has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Masters uses from the top position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Masters wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Civita's closed guard. He's half up but Civita has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Civita pivots and extends the arm, Masters falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Civita! Well done that man!
