Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marko Horvat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dani Helenius!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horvat with a lazy takedown attempt
and Helenius counters with a series of strikes. Horvat will be more careful next time no doubt.
Helenius darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Horvat gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Helenius counters with a right hand to the body.
Horvat swings away with a body shot that misses
and Helenius counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Horvat takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Helenius changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Horvat doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Horvat fails with the takedown
and Helenius counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marko Horvat. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Horvat is breathing heavily.
Helenius drops Horvat with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Horvat looks back up at him and smiles so Helenius waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
It looks like Marko Horvat has been cut.
Helenius gets in close and tags Horvat with a short punch that almost sends Horvat to the mat! Oh Horvat is in big trouble! He turns his back on Helenius, trying to create some distance but Helenius rushes him, striking wildly and Horvat goes down! The referee tackles Helenius into the cage to end the fight! Helenius is one violent man!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dani Helenius!
