Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Okeoghene Ekbuna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kory Sax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Okeoghene Ekbuna!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kory Sax!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ekbuna throws a lazy head kick

and Sax counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Ekbuna with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Ekbuna looking to throw knees to the head but Sax is blocking nicely.

Sax breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A head kick by Ekbuna misses

and Sax counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Sax slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Ekbuna wants to stand and escape but Sax is having none of it.
Ekbuna avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ekbuna wants to sweep but no luck.
Sax sitting in guard here, content to control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ekbuna has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sax is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ekbuna.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sax moves into full mount!

Ekbuna has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Ekbuna is breathing heavily.
Sax somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sax is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Sax trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Ekbuna doesn't escape.
Sax somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Let's hope that Sax has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
It looks like Sax might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kory Sax wasn't active enough on the ground.

and Sax counters with a head kick. That will keep Ekbuna thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sax gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Okeoghene Ekbuna has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kory Sax.
Ekbuna looking to throw knees to the head but Sax is blocking nicely.

Ekbuna is pressed up against the cage. Sax has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ekbuna down to the mat. Ekbuna avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sax is looking for a kimura but Ekbuna is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sax to get the leverage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Sax. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Sax is taking a breather. Ekbuna says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ekbuna tries to get to full guard but Sax has control of the leg.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Kory Sax.

Sax closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ekbuna's guard.
Sax not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Ekbuna knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sax on the ground.

Sax misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Sax goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Ekbuna turns into him and now he's in Sax's guard.

Sax is looking for a triangle but Ekbuna pushes his legs off easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sax manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ekbuna manages to get himself to full guard.
Sax passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kory Sax showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Sax shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ekbuna as he jumps to the side.

It looks like Kory Sax has been cut.
Sax digs a good hook to Ekbuna's body.

Sax manages to pull guard.
Sax lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ekbuna!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

You can see the frustration on Ekbuna's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Well Sax has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
