PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mick Helm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Ouch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mick Helm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Fred Ouch!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ouch feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Helm is trying to control the position but Ouch postures up.

Helm is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ouch defends well.

Helm looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ouch trying to control the position from guard on top but Helm is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Helm has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ouch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ouch avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Helm is trying to keep Ouch in close.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ouch stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Helm swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ouch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Helm. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ouch controls from within his opponent's guard.
Helm is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Helm is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ouch is aware though and is defending well.
Helm pulls Ouch in close to his closed guard and prevents Ouch from doing any damage or advancing position.
Ouch wants to control from the top but Helm keeps moving.

Helm looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Helm keeping moving, preventing Ouch from controlling successfully.
Ouch controls from within his opponent's guard.

Fred Ouch has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Ouch drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ouch stays in close to Helm's body and controls the position.
Ouch wants to get up but he can't break Helm's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ouch tries to free his leg and advance position but Helm is retaining full guard.
Helm is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Ouch would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ouch defending well as Helm loads up on a big left hand.

Ouch drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ouch throws a big elbow that misses.
Helm seems keen to control Ouch's posture.
Ouch postures up.
Helm is breathing heavily.
Helm keeping full guard, as Ouch tries to pass.
Helm is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mick Helm has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Helm tries to clinch but Ouch moves away
and Ouch counters with a nice body shot.
Ouch tries to close the distance and clinch but Helm swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ouch drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Helm manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Ouch is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ouch seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Helm trying to control here.

Ouch moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Helm.
You can see the frustration on Helm's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fred Ouch dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ouch circles away from the clinch attempt.

Ouch closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ouch lands in his opponent's guard.
Helm controlling the position.
Helm keeping moving, preventing Ouch from controlling successfully.
Helm is trying to hold Ouch in close to prevent damage but Ouch has managed to pass into half guard.
Helm wants to control but Ouch is keeping busy.
Helm wants to get back to full guard.
Helm has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ouch is working away from the top position though.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Helm is trying is best to control the position here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ouch tries to stand and escape but Helm is controlling the position.
Helm trying to hold on to Ouch's head to control him but Ouch postures up.

We're going to have a standup here because Mick Helm wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Ouch tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Helm paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ouch throws a sloppy head kick and Helm moves out of range easily.

Ouch looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ouch is stalling in the full guard.
Ouch is fighting to break Helm's control of his arms but Helm is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ouch is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ouch is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Ouch loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Helm is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Helm pulls Ouch in close to prevent any damage.
Fred Ouch has got the better of the ground game so far.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Helm has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Helm trying to control the position but instead, Ouch has worked for underhooks and has pushed Helm into the cage.
Helm tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Ouch.
Helm jumps guard but Ouch stands there with Helm around his waist. Helm gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Helm fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mick Helm. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ouch escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Ouch rushes Helm and presses him up against the cage.
Helm changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ouch fights it off and pushes away nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ouch changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Helm looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Helm trying to control but Ouch flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Ouch has good solid back control here.

Ouch working for a choke but Helm is defending well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fred Ouch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Ouch throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Helm tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ouch is in Helm's guard.

Ouch sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Helm doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Ouch paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Helm - great work!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Mick Helm!
