The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Targon drops Ruas with a right and a left! Targon comes rushing in but Ruas regains his composure and manages to keep Targon in guard.

Ruas is rocked!

It looks like Anderson Ruas has been cut.
Targon won't allow Ruas to sweep him here.
Oh Ruas is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ruas wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Targon manages to pass to side control.

Ruas is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Targon pulls his head out easily.
Targon working over Ruas with some ground and pound. Ruas looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Ruas seems to have got his legs back now.
Targon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ruas knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

I looks like Targon might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Let's hope that Targon has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Targon prevents Ruas from improving his position.
Targon wants to free his trapped foot but Ruas is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Targon tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Ruas.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Targon thows a huge punch but Ruas dodges it nicely.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Targon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Anderson Ruas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ruas misses with a takedown attempt - Targon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Targon moves into range and connects with a jab.
Targon misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ruas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Targon as he jumps to the side.

Ruas gets caught flat footed, as Targon shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ruas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Targon's guard.
Ruas pushes down on Targon's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Ruas is thwarting Targon's attempts to control the position.
Ruas is tying to control. Targon wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
