PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wade Swag (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Beasley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beasley shoots for a double leg takedown but Swag sprawls well. He's pushed Beasley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Swag tries to clinch but Beasley is having none of it.
Swag throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Swag tries to score a power double leg takedown but Beasley sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Swag somewhat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Beasley is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Beasley swings wildly with an uppercut but Swag uses good head movement to avoid it.
Beasley should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Swag ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Swag no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Beasley wants to stand but Swag is controlling his posture from full guard.

Swag lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Beasley!

Beasley is squirming around, avoiding Swag's attempts to control the action.

Swag is working for a guillotine from mount but Beasley frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beasley is looking to improve his position but Swag isn't that keen on the idea.

Beasley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Swag is working away from the top position though.
Swag will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Swag is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Beasley defends it well.

Beasley is staying active underneath Swag, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Beasley manages to break the clinch.

Swag leaves Beasley with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Beasley jumps guard and drags Swag to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Beasley is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Beasley manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Swag manages to get himself to full guard.

Beasley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Swag throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Swag pulls Beasley in close to his closed guard and prevents Beasley from doing any damage or advancing position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Swag tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Beasley swivels and escapes.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Beasley enables Swag to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Beasley manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Beasley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Beasley is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Swag is aware though and is defending well.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Swag tries to score with some ground and pound. Beasley controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Beasley tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Swag wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Beasley avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Swag.

Beasley is not content to let Swag control the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Swag will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Swag is trying to drag Beasley to the mat but Beasley just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

and Beasley counters with a good low kick that Swag was not able to check.

Beasley shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Swag as he jumps to the side.
Swag stuffs the takedown attempt from Beasley. Beasley gets slowly back to his feet.
Beasley displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Swag.

Swag has taken the fight to the clinch.
Swag tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Beasley just stands there and leans against the cage.
Swag wants to break the clinch but can't.
Swag jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Beasley walks away with a smile on his face. Swag gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Beasley stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Beasley wants it to stay on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Swag has managed to clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Beasley takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Swag is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Beasley tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Beasley jumps guard but Swag stands there with Beasley around his waist. Beasley gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Well Swag has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
