Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cristian Carver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conner Magavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Conner Magavin is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cristian Carver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Conner Magavin!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magavin walks into a stiff left hand from Carver.
Magavin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carver scores with a shot to the body.
Magavin lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Cristian Carver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carver swings widly with a right hand
and Magavin counters with a two punch combo.
Carver shoots in looking for a takedown but Magavin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carver's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Magavin tries a head kick but it misses.
Magavin moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Cristian Carver has been cut.

and Magavin counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Carver thinking.
Magavin bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Magavin swings for the body but Carver moves out of range.
Carver uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Magavin.
Carver just misses with a punch to the body.
Magavin scores with a leg kick.
Carver ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Magavin moves away.

Magavin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Magavin wants to control but Carver is keeping him busy.
Carver is looking for a sweep.
Magavin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carver keeps working.
Carver gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Carver thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Carver postures up in Magavin's guard and throws a big left but Magavin blocks it.
Carver keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Magavin's head.

Carver stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Magavin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Magavin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carver wants to control from the top but Magavin keeps moving.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
No joy there for Carver, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Magavin moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Carver. Magavin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Carver throws a jab but it's blocked by Magavin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cristian Carver will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Carver shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carver in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carver accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Magavin feints a jab promting Carver to slip. Magavin then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Carver slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Magavin takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Magavin throws a series of punches but Carver avoids them all with ease.
No joy there for Carver, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Carver is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Magavin's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Magavin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Carver looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Magavin is fending him off so far but Carver persists. Nope, Magavin circles away and we're back to standing.
Magavin connects with a high kick.

and Magavin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carver takes a swing at Magavin's ribcage but misses.
Donk. Carver catches Magavin right on the button with a cross.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carver takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Carver throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carver fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Magavin manages to avoid it.
Carver is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Magavin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


The fighters circling - Carver throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Magavin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Magavin lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carver is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Magavin is aware though and is defending well.
Magavin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Carver is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Carver bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Magavin's guard.

Magavin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Carver's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Carver is fighting to break Magavin's control of his arms but Magavin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Carver throws a strike but Magavin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Magavin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carver has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Magavin has managed to get both his arms back between Carver's legs - danger averted.
Magavin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carver swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Magavin lands a couple of digs.

Carver is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Magavin is aware though and is defending well.

Carver has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Magavin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Magavin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carver, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
