Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Arturo Caldeira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel McDermott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caldeira misses with a two punch combination.
McDermott staying out of range there.

Caldeira gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
McDermott postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Caldeira thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Caldeira is trying to keep McDermott in close.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Arturo Caldeira.
McDermott fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Caldeira throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

McDermott turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Caldeira has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McDermott decides to stand up, so the ref orders Caldeira to his feet.
Caldeira throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Caldeira enables McDermott to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Caldeira manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
McDermott trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Caldeira is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McDermott is aware though and is defending well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Caldeira is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but McDermott frees his head nicely. Oh but Caldeira has switched to an armbar! McDermott is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
