PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby TupperII (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Castle comes into the arena with 12 Stones - Bulletproof blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Castle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby TupperII!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
TupperII doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Castle counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Castle lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

TupperII actively working from the bottom here.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Castle prevents TupperII from improving his position.
TupperII is looking to control Castle's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can TupperII avoid being mounted?
TupperII works his way to full guard. Good work.
Castle seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Castle avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Castle connects with a couple of short punches.
Castle controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Castle will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Castle has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Castle's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Castle distracts TupperII with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
TupperII displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Castle throws out the jab.
Castle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but TupperII moves away.
Castle throws a left and a right that both miss

and TupperII moves into the clinch.
Castle misses with a punch on the inside.
TupperII goes for a takedown attempt but Castle pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

TupperII gets caught flat footed, as Castle shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Castle is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

TupperII looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Castle controlling from the top position.

TupperII is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Castle is aware though and is defending well.
Castle controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

TupperII looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
TupperII looking for a sweep. Not yet TupperII, not yet.
Castle controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

We're going to have a standup here because Eric Castle wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Castle cracks TupperII with a right hand to the side of the head.


It looks like Bobby TupperII has been cut.
Castle throws a lazy head kick

and TupperII counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by TupperII.
Castle fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Castle lands with a light punch inside.
TupperII tries for a takedown but Castle manages to get underhooks.
Eric Castle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby TupperII.
TupperII tries to pull guard but Castle holds him up against the cage and eventually TupperII drops back down to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Castle lands a hook to the side of the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
TupperII tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Castle smiles and moves away.
Sloppy strikes from Castle. Those never looked like landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!


TupperII has his takedown stuffed
and Castle counters with a nice leg kick.
Castle throws a right hand that TupperII ducks under and follows up with a left that TupperII also avoids with ease.
Castle lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Castle misses with a head kick.
Castle swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and TupperII counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Castle's guard now.
Castle is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Castle looking for a sweep. Not yet Castle, not yet.
TupperII throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Castle works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

TupperII is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Castle preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

TupperII avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
TupperII trying to control the position from guard on top but Castle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
TupperII trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Castle working for a triangle but TupperII defends it easily.
TupperII missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

TupperII throws a big right hand that misses.
TupperII is looking to stand up but Castle won't let him.
TupperII looking to sit in guard and control but Castle gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
TupperII wants to stand but Castle is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Castle slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
TupperII is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Castle throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Eric Castle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

TupperII seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Castle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
TupperII wants to get back to his feet.
Castle has his hands clasped together around TupperII's back. He's all about the action.

TupperII is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Castle is just riding it out for now. TupperII eventually gives up the hold.
Castle moves into full guard.

TupperII wants to control from the top but Castle keeps moving.

Castle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. TupperII doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Castle is tightening it up a little... TupperII has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! TupperII reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! TupperII taps out! Nice BJJ there by Castle!
