PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Muhammad Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Loholt Pendragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ward comes to the cage accompanied by Feel The Music by Guru. Pendragon is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Game of Thrones. On his way into the cage it seems that Muhammad Ward has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Muhammad Ward seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Muhammad Ward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Loholt Pendragon!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pendragon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Ward being controlled here momentarily.
Ward looking to sit in guard and control but Pendragon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Pendragon sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Pendragon throwing strikes but missing.
Ward wants to control but Pendragon passes easily into half guard.
Ward wants to control but Pendragon is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Pendragon takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ward is trying to control but can't.

Pendragon not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Well, if Pendragon is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Ward moves into full guard.
Pendragon postures up.

Ward is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Pendragon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ward has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pendragon has managed to get both his arms back between Ward's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ward working a defensive guard but Pendragon manages to pass into side control anyway.
Pendragon cracks Ward with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Ward is not content to let Pendragon control the position.
Pendragon working the ground and pound but Ward is defending the strikes.

Ward is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ward avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pendragon.
Pendragon throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Pendragon trying to control the pace.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ward trying to hold on to Pendragon's head to control him but Pendragon postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Loholt Pendragon will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Pendragon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ward looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ward is being controlled here.
Ward manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Pendragon trying to control the pace.
Pendragon's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Loholt Pendragon has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Pendragon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ward's guard.
Ward is trying to control the position but Pendragon postures up.
Pendragon throws a big right hand that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pendragon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Pendragon slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Ward tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Pendragon is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ward has escaped the position, nice work there.
Ward sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Ward wants to get back to full guard.
Ward makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ward.

Pendragon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Pendragon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Pendragon is looking to work some ground and pound but Ward has wrist control.
Ward working a defensive guard here.

Ward looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Pendragon throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Loholt Pendragon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Pendragon's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

It looks like Muhammad Ward has been cut.

BOOM! Pendragon connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Pendragon looking to control but Ward is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Muhammad Ward has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pendragon breaks from Ward's wrist control and lands an elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Loholt Pendragon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pendragon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
