PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kratos Gorkhain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandre Ferreira Da Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kratos Gorkhain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alexandre Ferreira Da Serra!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gorkhain lands a glancing blow to the side of Da Serra's head.
Gorkhain rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Da Serra moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gorkhain takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Gorkhain tries to bum rush Da Serra with a series of wild strikes but Da Serra uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gorkhain looks to land a combination but Da Serra avoids it well.
Da Serra slips under a jab from Gorkhain.
Gorkhain throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Da Serra closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gorkhain circles away.
Gorkhain digs a good hook to Da Serra's body.
Gorkhain looks to throw the jab but Da Serra is out of range.

Da Serra throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gorkhain tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Da Serra is in Gorkhain's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Da Serra drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gorkhain looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gorkhain looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gorkhain!
Da Serra is not content to let Gorkhain control the position.

Da Serra tries to buck Gorkhain off but Gorkhain is having none of it.
Da Serra wants to control but Gorkhain postures up.
Da Serra tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Da Serra is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Da Serra stops Gorkhain from passing to mount.
Gorkhain gets to mount! Da Serra was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Gorkhain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Da Serra on the ground.
Da Serra is looking to get to half guard.

Gorkhain takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Da Serra is looking to improve his position but Gorkhain isn't that keen on the idea.

Da Serra tries to lock up and control but Gorkhain gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Da Serra regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gorkhain trying to pass the guard but Da Serra defending well.
Gorkhain tries to stand and escape but Da Serra is controlling the position.
Da Serra keeps control of the position for the meantime.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gorkhain decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Da Serra shoots in looking for a takedown. Gorkhain tries to sprawl out of it but Da Serra keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gorkhain manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gorkhain throws a body punch but Da Serra moves out of range.
Da Serra avoids a punch combination nicely.

Da Serra takes a swing at Gorkhain's ribcage but misses.

Gorkhain displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Da Serra throws out the jab.

so Da Serra counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Da Serra stands and throws Gorkhain's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Da Serra rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Gorkhain counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Gorkhain moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Alexandre Ferreira Da Serra has been cut.
Kratos Gorkhain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Da Serra shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Gorkhain might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gorkhain tries to kick Da Serra off but Da Serra keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Da Serra is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Da Serra is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Da Serra is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gorkhain is just riding it out for now. Da Serra eventually gives up the hold.

Da Serra looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Da Serra is pressing down on Gorkhain's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gorkhain is holding on for now.
Gorkhain is in trouble now - Da Serra has advanced to mount!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Da Serra has control of Gorkhain's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gorkhain regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Da Serra is working for a guillotine from mount but Gorkhain frees his head quite easily.

Da Serra goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Gorkhain turns into him and now he's in Da Serra's guard.
Da Serra has control of Gorkhain's left arm, preventing Gorkhain from doing any damage.

Da Serra has his foot on Gorkhain's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gorkhain works his way back into a safe position though.

Da Serra looking for a triangle here. Gorkhain is fighting it but it looks tight! Da Serra pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Gorkhain is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Alexandre Ferreira Da Serra!
Alexandre Ferreira Da Serra decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
