The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzales lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Powell looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Gonzales shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Powell 's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Gonzales slips nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gonzales keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Gonzales looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Powell with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Gonzales looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gonzales connects with a nice short shot to Powell 's temple.
