Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ian Macdonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergio Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ian Macdonald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sergio Chavez!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Roberts and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chavez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Macdonald paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Chavez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Macdonald swivels and escapes.

Macdonald shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Macdonald was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Macdonald works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Macdonald lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Chavez takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Macdonald cracks Chavez with a big right hand but Chavez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Chavez is trying to control Macdonald's posture but Macdonald avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Check out the look on Macdonald's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Macdonald stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Chavez tries to clinch but Macdonald is having none of it.
Chavez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Macdonald.

Macdonald throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Chavez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Macdonald is in Chavez's guard.

Chavez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Macdonald seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Chavez for as long as he can get away with.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ian Macdonald has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Chavez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Macdonald has managed to clinch.
Macdonald drops down looking for an ankle pick but Chavez pulls his leg out and moves away.

Macdonald dives in and scores a takedown into Chavez's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Macdonald decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Chavez, up you get!
Macdonald throws a head kick but Chavez moves out of range.
Chavez tries to clinch there but Macdonald circles away.

Macdonald closes the distance and clinches.

Macdonald pulls guard effortlessly.

Macdonald uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Macdonald breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Macdonald throws a head kick that misses
and Chavez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Macdonald shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Chavez is trying to defend but Macdonald finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Macdonald has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Macdonald perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chavez tries to clinch but Macdonald moves out of range.

Macdonald closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Macdonald lands in his opponent's guard.
Chavez is trying to hold Macdonald in close to prevent damage but Macdonald has managed to pass into half guard.

Macdonald stands up and beckons Chavez to join him on the feet.

Chavez wants to sweep but no luck.

Macdonald stands up and waves to Chavez to follow him.
Chavez is breathing heavily.

Macdonald fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Chavez to the ground. Macdonald is now in Chavez's guard.
Macdonald controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Macdonald stands and throws Chavez's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Macdonald lands an elbow.
Macdonald working away.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Macdonald has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Ian Macdonald overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Macdonald is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Chavez can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Macdonald takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Macdonald is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Chavez is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Chavez flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Macdonald anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Chavez and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Macdonald slips an arm under Chavez chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Macdonald has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Macdonald is squeezing on Chavez like an anaconda would it's prey. Chavez fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ian Macdonald!
