PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pai Mei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuanjia Huo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Yuanjia Huo was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuanjia Huo!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mei shoots in but Huo avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Huo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Mei feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mei slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Huo stops Mei from passing to mount.

Mei is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Huo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mei throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Huo's waist but Huo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mei off to one side.

Huo stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Mei wants to control but Huo is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mei wants to get back to full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yuanjia Huo dominated that round.

Mei avoids the head kick by Huo.
Mei shoots in for a takedown but Huo shows good takedown defense.
Mei closes the distance and clinches up with Huo, looking for a takedown. Mei pushes Huo against the cage but Huo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Huo counters with an inside leg kick.

Huo is working an open guard so Mei takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Mei shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Huo's guard.
