PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Munsy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dutch Schaeffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Schaeffer's choice of entrance music: Long Tall Sally. On his way into the cage it seems that Mike Munsy has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mike Munsy seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Munsy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dutch Schaeffer!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schaeffer avoids the body shot from Munsy.
Munsy throws a body punch but Schaeffer moves out of range.
Munsy lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Munsy uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Schaeffer.
Schaeffer shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Munsy as he jumps to the side.
Schaeffer jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Schaeffer takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Munsy throws a combination. Schaeffer tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Schaeffer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Munsy momentarily.
Mike Munsy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice uppercut there from Munsy.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Schaeffer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Munsy circles away.
Munsy thuds a left hand into Schaeffer's body.
Munsy tries to land a front kick but Schaeffer steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Munsy slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Schaeffer catches Munsy with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!


It looks like Mike Munsy has been cut.
Munsy scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Schaeffer doesn't seem bothered though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Munsy throws a strike but Schaeffer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Mike Munsy will probably get the nod.

Horrible takedown by Schaeffer or perhaps it was just good defense by Munsy which made him look bad.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Dutch Schaeffer has got the better of the ground game so far.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Schaeffer has Munsy pressed against the cage.
Schaeffer tries to land knees in the clinch but Munsy avoids the damage to the body.
Schaeffer can't get the takedown.
Schaeffer is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Munsy pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Munsy blocks the elbow strike.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Schaeffer manages to pull guard.
Munsy controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Schaeffer keeping moving, preventing Munsy from controlling successfully.
Schaeffer controls Munsy momentarily but Munsy frees himself.

Schaeffer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Munsy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Dutch Schaeffer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
