PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pete Damato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boy Bubby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boy Bubby told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damato misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bubby.
Damato tries to move into range but Bubby moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Bubby lands a slapping body shot.

A nice inside leg kick there by Bubby. That's going to slow Damato down.
Damato sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bubby lands with an uppercut that bounces Damato off the cage and back into range.

Bubby lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Damato pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Bubby fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Damato.

Bubby connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Damato momentarily.
Bubby feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Damatos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Damato stuffs the takedown attempt from Bubby. Bubby gets slowly back to his feet.
Bubby looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Bubby looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Damato with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bubby stands and throws Damato's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Damato.
Bubby will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Damato lands a shot to the body.
Damato wants to get back to striking at distance but Bubby won't allow it.
Bubby misses with a hook from the clinch.

Bubby's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
