PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gianni Visnadi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sozu Arghei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Visnadi kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Blind by Korn. Gianni Visnadi could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Sozu Arghei's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gianni Visnadi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sozu Arghei!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Nard Betker and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arghei tries to bum rush Visnadi with a series of wild strikes but Visnadi uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Visnadi takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Visnadi has Arghei up against the cage in a clinch.

Visnadi jumps into guard, dragging Arghei to the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Arghei controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Visnadi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Visnadi is striking off his back. Arghei thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Arghei wants to stand up but Visnadi has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Visnadi keeping control of the position.
Arghei is thwarting Visnadi's attempts to control the position.
Visnadi is looking for a sweep. Arghei is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Arghei is thwarting Visnadi's attempts to control the position.
Arghei tries to stand but can't do so whilst Visnadi controls his leg.
Visnadi is looking to improve his position.
Visnadi gets back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Visnadi lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Arghei!
Arghei's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Arghei can do anything to dispel that myth.
Visnadi with a couple of short strikes.
Visnadi unloads with some shots from mount but Arghei bucks and avoids them well.
Arghei tries to buck Visnadi off but he can't manage it.
Arghei in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Visnadi wants to control the pace but Arghei is squirming around nicely.

Visnadi has hold of Arghei's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Arghei manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Arghei wants to try and get back to his feet.
Visnadi looking to finish Arghei with some ground and pound. This is bad for Arghei!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Arghei is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Arghei wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Visnadi.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Arghei throws a right hand that Visnadi ducks under and follows up with a left that Visnadi also avoids with ease.
Visnadi looks to clinch
and Arghei counters with a two punch combo.
Arghei looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Arghei throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Visnadi on the side of the head.
Visnadi fails with an attempt to clinch.
Visnadi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Arghei avoids it really well and circles away.
Visnadi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Arghei sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Visnadi somewhat.
Visnadi shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gianni Visnadi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Arghei pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Visnadi back to the cage. Arghei follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Visnadi shoots in but no luck this time.

Some wild striking there from Arghei.
Arghei doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Visnadi shoots in for a takedown but Arghei shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Visnadi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Arghei throws a nice looking combination but Visnadi bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Visnadi shoots in but Arghei avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nice takedown defense from Arghei. No joy for Visnadi on that attempt.
Arghei throws a right and a left that both miss.
Arghei lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Visnadi circles away quickly and effectively.
Arghei tries to bum rush Visnadi with a series of wild strikes but Visnadi uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Visnadi takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A slow jab from Visnadi misses its intended target.
Visnadi wants to clinch.
Arghei lands a nice shot that snaps Visnadi's head back.
Visnadi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Arghei's waist but Arghei gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Visnadi off to one side.
Visnadi shoots in for a double leg but Arghei sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Visnadi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Arghei manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Left hook, right uppercut from Arghei.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Arghei slaps away a takedown attempt from Visnadi, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Visnadi showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Arghei.
Visnadi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Visnadi feints and as Arghei raises his hands in defense, Visnadi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Arghei is looking to stand up but Visnadi isn't so interested in that idea.
Visnadi passes Arghei's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Visnadi trying to control from half guard but Arghei is working away.
Visnadi thows a huge punch but Arghei dodges it nicely.
Visnadi is nestled in close to Arghei, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Arghei avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Visnadi.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Visnadi thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Arghei's head.
Arghei on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Visnadi works his foot free and advances to mount.
Visnadi tries to control but Arghei wriggling away.
Arghei is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Arghei is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Visnadi locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Arghei is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gianni Visnadi!
