Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Duff James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Albert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duff James has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Duff James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Albert!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Albert swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by James.
Albert doesn't succeed with the takedown

and James counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Albert's guard now.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
James sitting in guard, not really doing much.
James seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Albert for as long as he can get away with.
Albert is looking to stand up but James isn't so interested in that idea.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We're going to have a standup here because Duff James wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

James gets a takedown into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with James in particular looking to stall.
James will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Albert is looking to improve his position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Duff James just wasn't active enough.

James misses with an attempted mid kick.
James circles away from the clinch attempt

and James counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Albert's guard now.
Albert really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
James postures up in Albert's guard and throws a big left but Albert blocks it.

James controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James tries to stand but Albert is controlling from the bottom.

James tries to free his leg and advance position but Albert is retaining full guard.
Albert is trying to control the position but James postures up.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Albert fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt James.
Albert shoots for a takedown but James saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Albert closes this distance looking for a takedown but James circles away.
Duff James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Albert.
Nice body kick there by James.

Albert misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

and James counters by moving into the clinch.
Albert tries for a takedown but James manages to get underhooks.

James manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
James looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

James has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Albert doesn't defend quickly enough and James has managed to lock this one up! Can Albert escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to James on a fantastic submission victory.
