PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Drabek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Grace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drabek comes into the arena with Imagine blaring out of the sound system. Grace has chosen Doggystyle - Snoop Dogg as his entrance music. Max Grace will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grace swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Drabek fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Drabek takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Drabek shoots in for a takedown but Grace shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Grace tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Drabek was well out of range. Poor timing from Grace.

Grace closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Drabek is looking for a sweep.
Drabek wants to control but Grace postures up.
Grace is looking to take a break and control but Drabek is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Drabek is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Max Grace wasn't active enough on the ground.
Grace jabs Drabek right on the nose. Drabek blinks but takes it well.
Drabek closes the distance and clinches up with Grace, looking for a takedown. Drabek pushes Grace against the cage but Grace circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Drabek. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Drabek throws a looping overhand right but Grace ducks down to avoid it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Grace lands a slapping body shot.

and Drabek counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Drabek loads up on a big right hand but Grace slips the punch.
Grace uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Drabek.

Nice sprawl there from Grace as Drabek shoots in.
Drabek throws a predictable looking body shot
and Grace counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

It looks like Jeff Drabek has been cut.
Grace ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Horrible takedown by Drabek or perhaps it was just good defense by Grace which made him look bad.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
