PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rad Jeffreis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by National Anthem. Jeffreis comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Unity from Shinedown kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rad Jeffreis!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with a looping left.
Jeffreis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side.
Johnson slaps away a takedown attempt from Jeffreis, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Johnson lunges at Jeffreis with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jeffreis's hand.
Johnson moves out of range of the leg kick from Jeffreis.
Joe Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice defenses there by Jeffreis.
Jeffreis looks for a takedown but Johnson sprawls well.
Joe Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rad Jeffreis.

Jeffreis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jeffreis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Johnson stuffs the takedown attempt from Jeffreis. Jeffreis gets slowly back to his feet.

Joe Johnson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jeffreis takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Jeffreis looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Jeffreis takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Johnson clinches up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jeffreis is trying to break the clinch but Johnson has him pressed against the cage.

Johnson digs a right hand into Jeffreis's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Jeffreis's gas tank.

Jeffreis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Johnson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Johnson has closed the distance and engaged Jeffreis in a clinch.

Johnson swings wildly with an uppercut but Jeffreis uses good head movement to avoid it.

Johnson is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
A nice left hand lands by Johnson.

Jeffreis turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Johnson is looking to regain half guard here but Jeffreis keeps moving and retains side control.

Jeffreis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Jeffreis misses with the ground and pound.

Johnson is not content to let Jeffreis control the position.
Johnson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Johnson tries to get out of the position.
Jeffreis tries to score with some ground and pound. Johnson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Jeffreis is trying to get an arm triangle but Johnson is defending well.
Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jeffreis on the ground.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Johnson thuds his right hand into Jeffreis's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Johnson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jeffreis manages to avoid it.
Johnson fails to land with a series of punches.
Johnson throws a right and a left that Jeffreis avoids nicely.
Jeffreis takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Jeffreis drops his hands momentarily and Johnson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Johnson lands with a shot to the body.

Johnson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jeffreis.
Johnson misses with the combination.
Jeffreis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side.
Joe Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rad Jeffreis.

Johnson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jeffreis was well out of range. Poor timing from Johnson.

Johnson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jeffreis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jeffreis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jeffreis swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A looping hook to the body misses from Johnson. Jeffreis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Jeffreis is trying hard to land a takedown here. Johnson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jeffreis is breathing heavily.
Johnson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice straight punches there by Johnson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Johnson.

Johnson ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Jeffreis walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Jeffreis throws a low kick but Johnson avoids it.
Johnson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Johnson tries to clinch there but Jeffreis circles away.

Johnson moves into the clinch successfully.
Johnson misses with some punches.
Jeffreis is trying to push Johnson away but Johnson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Johnson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Jeffreis is trying to pull guard but Johnson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Johnson lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Johnson tries a body shot but Jeffreis blocks it.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Johnson digs a right hand underneath Jeffreis's ribcage. Jeffreis let out a lung full of air as it connected.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson pushes Jeffreis back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.


Jeffreis is rocked!
Johnson throws a big uppercut that drops Jeffreis! More strikes from Johnson and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Jeffreis lies dazed against the cage as Johnson celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Johnson!
